10-Jan-2011 Nastia Forced to Bow Out

Anastasia was forced to retire from her Moorilla Hobart International first-round match against Bethanie Mattek-Sands due to a strained hip muscle. Nastia already felt some pain and discomfort last week, but decided to play in Hobart. Now she has at least two days off before going back to the courts.

The 19-year-old lost the first set 6-2 and couldn't go any further today.

Nastia's next stop will be the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open, which begins January 17th.
