Anastasia was ousted from the Family Circle Cup in Charleston after suffering a straight-set defeat against fellow Russian Nadia Petrova. Nastia, a wild card entrant, lost 6-1, 6-4 in the third round. The match lasted one hour and 17 minutes.

Nastia dropped serve five times in the match and broke her opponent twice.

Anastasia's challenge is still alive in the doubles event with Czech partner Lucie Safarova. In the first round they edged past Vera Dushevina and Marina Erakovic, winning 6-3, 6-7(10), 11-9 in one hour and 54 minutes. They next will play No. 3 seeds Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina in today's quarterfinal.
