Istanbul champion Anastasia extended her winning streak to seven matches when she dismissed world No. 6 Elena Dementieva 6-1, 6-3 to charge into the third round of Western & Southern Financial Group Open. The victory marked her fifth career win over a Top 10 player and first this season.

Nastia came out firing in the first set which she won 6-1 in 33 minutes. Her return game was fantastic, resulting in four service breaks, compared to one for Dementieva.

In the second set, Dementieva improved her first serve efficiency, but still struggled with her second serve (she won only four points out of 16). That was not enough to avert defeat today. Nastia broke her opponent early on in the set, Dementieva broke back to level the set 2-2. The decisive break for Anastasia came in the sixth game and the remaining games went to serve.

In the third round, Nastia will play Shahar Peer of Israel.
